One day in September I saw it on tv, and thought 'hmmm, that sounds interesting." I had a trip to wal-mart planned the Friday of the week I saw it, so I added Nutella to my list. I did my grocery run {my mom and I swap up}, and made my way back up the mountain. After I made it home and put all the groceriers up I decided to try the stuff in that itty bitty jar. I just stuck my finger in it, and it's a shocker that I didn't go crazy after I tried it.
I was in love.
It was certain.
Nutella has been in our cabinet since. I've also told other 'round these parts about it, and now they are in love.{Yet I don't think they like me too much after the sit and eat a whole jar! :D}
One day while I had it on Food Network {big mistake because I hear these awesome recipes, and then I have to try them!} and I heard the words Nutella and cookie. Hold up. I made my way to the couch to listen and watch {while drooling}. Why I hadn't thought of cookies I don't know. I had made frosting and other foods that were bad for me with Nutella, yet I never thought of cookies.
So of course I knew I needed to make them.
And I did.
And I liked them.
A lot.
I used this recipe from Foodnetwork.com
It's for Nutella Biscotti, so they are crunchy {kinda}. I love my cookies gooey so I didn't cook them long at all. I'd say they weren't even in there five minutes. My nephews and niece loved them which is rare for them. They love cookies, but they usually don't like homemade ones. They ate them up! I even had to make more for them!

Ingredients
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (recommended: Nutella)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup chopped toasted hazelnuts(I didn't use hazelnuts, but I did use about a cup of chocolate chips.)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
In a medium bowl combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In another medium bowl combine the butter, chocolate hazelnut spread, sugar, and brown sugar. Using an electric mixer, cream the ingredients together, about 4 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla and beat until smooth, about 1 minute. Using a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, stir in the flour mixture until just combined. Add the hazelnuts and stir until just combined.
Using a tablespoon measure, spoon out the cookie dough onto a cookie sheet, spacing the mounds about 4 inches apart. Use the tines of a fork to flatten the cookie dough. Bake until lightly golden around the edges, about 10 to 12 minutes. Use a metal spatula to transfer the cookies to a wire rack and let cool.
I found this recipe yesterday, and I plan on trying it soon. Since they are ooey and gooey and lava-ey, oh and Nutella-y, I'd say they will be delicious! (I also probably won't use the hazelnuts since I can't find them anywhere but Walmart, and since it is about thirty minutes to Walmart I really don't feel like a trip! hehe Oh, and I probably won't bake mine as long. Just go with how you like it.) & sorry I don't have where I got this recipe from.
Nutella Lave Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 oz (56 grams) chopped hazelnuts plus about 1 tablespoon unsalted butter**
- 3 tablespoons (56 grams) unsalted butter, divided use
- 1 cup (170 grams) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup (65 grams) granulated sugar
- 1/2 scant teaspoon (a little less than 2 ml) salt
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (63 grams) lightly spooned and leveled flour
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) baking powder
- 8 teaspoons Nutella
Directions
Melt butter in a large skillet set over medium heat. Add chopped hazelnuts and saute, stirring often, for 4-5 minutes or until aromatic. Remove nuts from skillet and lay on a piece of foil to cool and crisp.
Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a small saucepan set over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and stir in chocolate chips. Stir until melted; remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Beat the egg, sugar, salt and vanilla in a medium bowl for about 2 minutes using high speed of an electric hand-held mixer. Beat in the melted chocolate mixture.
Thoroughly stir together the flour and baking powder, then stir flour mixture into chocolate mixture and nuts. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and chill for an hour or more.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Working one at a time, scoop up generous heaping tablespoons of dough and shape into a mounds a little larger than a golf ball. Press a hole into the mound and stuff it with a teaspoon of chilled Nutella. Seal the hole with some more dough.
Place dough balls about 3 inches apart on lined baking sheet. Bake cookies one sheet at a time for exactly 12 minutes. Cool 3 to 5 minutes.
Makes 8 large cookies
I've also thought about just doing the Nestle cookie recipe and adding Nutella.
Now if you have been living under a rock such as I was, and you haven't tried Nutella, you should go buy a jar. BUT, don't have bad thoughts toward this blogger after you eat an entire jar! hehe

Ahh! I LOVE Nutella! It's Heaven in a jar! I haven't tried the cookies yet -- I'll definitely have to look into that!
Nutella cookies?! What?! I LOVE nutella! Never knew there were cookies too! I will definitely be trying one of these (or both) recipes!!!
I can't even buy Nutella anymore. If I know there's some in the cabinet, I feel weak at the knees LOL. My favorite thing to make are crepes filled with... you guessed it. So easy, and so, so good!
I may have to wait to try Nutella until after I have the baby...not sure it would be so great for me to eat an entire jar, LOL!
The recipes do sound super yummy and the cookies look beyond delicious!
Do you know, all the years my children were growing up I bought Nutella fo them as a treat but only tried it once as I couldn't stand the smell. Now they've all grown and gone - and I find the smell isn't a problem any more! I can eat it now. Can you explain it? LOL
I've never had Nutella, but have been wanting to try it. Thanks for sharing those recipes!
OH MY GOODNESS!! I am so sad I just got home from the store cause now I want these so bad and I have no Nutella. Must make these soon!!!
